Using ExpeDat Desktop
The ExpeDat Desktop
graphical client resembles typical file transfer clients.
This is a fully functional ExpeDat client and can be used with other ExpeDat servers. Complete ExpeDat documentation is included in the "expedat" package and online. The Wasabi functionality provided by the CloudDat gateway is referred to as an "Object Handler" in the ExpeDat documentation and is enabled when the "Handler" drop-down menu shows "S3". When "None" is selected, ExpeDat will attempt to access the instance filesystem instead.
The copy of ExpeDat Desktop
available with CloudDat is preconfigured to support S3 compatible storage. If you use a copy of ExpeDat Desktop
from another source, you may need to enable the S3 handler manually. Follow ExpeDat Desktop
's Object Handler instructions to add "S3" to the list of "Server Handlers" and select it when accessing a Wasabi bucket.
Using movedat
Below are some examples of using movedat
with CloudDat. Substitute the public address of the compute instance for "wasabi.example.com" below:
movedat local.dat s3user@wasabi.example.com=S3:remote.dat
movedat s3user@wasabi.example.com=S3:remote.dat local.dat
movedat -m s3user@wasabi.example.com=S3:remote.dat newremote.dat
movedat -x s3user@wasabi.example.com=S3:newremote.dat
movedat s3user@wasabi.example.com=S3:
movedat s3user@wasabi.example.com=S3:subdir/
For detailed usage information, including scripting and automation features, refer to the movedat
documentation included in the "expedat" package or in the online movedat Documentation.
Using DropDat
DropDat
lets you create self-contained, pre-configured upload clients called "droplets". You can distribute these to end-users, allowing them to upload with CloudDat by dragging-and-dropping files and folders. It is perfect for uploads by non-technical users because you set all the configuration in advance. End-users do not even need to run an installer.
DropDat
master. The new droplet application will be created in the same folder as the DropDat
master. You can copy this to end-users as you would any other application. For complete setup and distribution instructions, see the documentation that is included in the ExpeDat or in the online DropDat Documentation.
Using ExpeDat Mobile
ExpeDat Mobile
can upload documents and media from iOS devices to CloudDat servers.
It is available from the Apple App Store and can be launched manually or by clicking on an expedat:// URL.
When configuring the CloudDat instance as a New Destination, set the Handler to S3 to target object storage or leave it blank for filesystem access. See the ExpeDat Mobile Documentation for more usage details.
