Access Privileges
You must have sufficient access privileges to read the local and remote directories and make any necessary changes.
When performing Peer Mode synchronization of changes made both locally and remotely, you will need read and write access to all local and remote files. When using Remote Master or Local Master mode, you only need read privileges on the Master side.
Preservation of file ownership and other file properties may require that syncdat and/or servedat be run with system administrator privileges (e.g. root).
Windows' Read-Only flag is preserved and will be treated as mode 0444 on unix systems. Files copied from unix to Windows will have the Read-Only flag set only if no write mode is set.
Because SyncDat preserves the privilege settings of files, it may need to update a file that is marked as read-only or otherwise write protected. SyncDat will attempt override a write-protected file if that file needs to be updated with a newer version. However, you may still receive file permission errors if a file or directory being updated is write protected.
